![]() Stempel AG redesigned the famous Helvetica typeface for the digital age, creating Neue Helvetica for Linotype: a self-contained font family. So many of my clients have this as their brand font and there is NONE of them would be okay with using an alternative. Due to its great and clear style, the font rapidly gained popularity, making it today one of the most used sans serif fonts, its usage expanding from branding to signage and advertising. That is absolutely absurd for Adobe to cut out Helvetica when it is the MOST used font. Helvetica is a sans serif font family, created and released in 1957 by Max Miedinger, based on a font from the end of the 19th century called Akzidenz-Grotesk. More like the 50's swiss grotesque font before the success of photocomposition process. Neue Haas Grotesk is a digitalised version of Helvetica original metal glyphes. This isn't an alternate of Helvetica because Helvetica is based on Akzidenz Grotesk! Arial isn't the default font in Macs but it's included under the name 'Univers ER Mac'. ![]() The R, which formerly resembled that in Helvetica and Univers, is now more Arial-like, while the k and K have become less distinctive. It represents a slight but notable improvement from Helvetica and includes a bunch of new variants, including the lovely Helvetica Neue UltraLight, Helvetica Neue Thin and Helvetica Neue Medium. Roboto was modified in mid 2014, and the new version found its way to the Google Fonts site on January 14, 2015. ![]() Nevertheless, Helvetica is still worldwide accepted as one of the most beautiful fonts ever designed. ![]()
